This is a well-known bug, which I think is fixed in more recent versions of
Splus. See previous reply from Splus {[CASE#96749]}:

with SPlus 6.1 when I type a single number into a cell, using the GUI data
entry spreadsheet, the number repeats 4 to 6 times.
So typing 4 will give me 444444. I can delete thes numbers and then retype the
4, and it works then.
This is WINXPPro SP2.
Has anyone any idea what is happening here.
