As long as you are getting ready to update, remember that S-Plus 8 is due to be 
released
soon.  You might as well go directly to the most current release instead of one 
which
is two years old.  See the Insightful site for information

I don't recall any difficulties in moving up from older releases.  Please post
to this list a small example of something from an older S-Plus that doesn't work
the same way in the newer releases.
