It
sounds like you need to delete your preferences as they have become corrupt.
See below:
The strange dialog box is
the result of a corrupt .Prefs directory. Below are instructions for
resolving this problem.
----------------------------------
With S-PLUS closed, delete
your .prefs directory, the default location is:
c:\Program
Files\Insightful\splus62\users\<login name>\.prefs
This directory stores your
user preferences, such as graph colors, default options, etc. When you
restart S-PLUS, the defaults will be restored in this directory. When
restarting S-PLUS you will receive a message that .data and/or .prefs cannot be
found. Click OK to create the default. Just the default .prefs will
be created.
-----------------------------------
I hope this helps!

Subject: [S] Additional details: Problem
with import data
My previous posting did not
contain enough detail, so I am supplying it here to clarify.
I am trying to import data
using the S-Plus 7.0 GUI menu system. When I select " File > Import
Data > From File", 3 unusual things happen:
1) The usual file import
window does not open.
2) A new file import window
opens that I do not recognize. (see attached pdf)
3) A very long error message
appears in the message window (this was previously posted).
This error seems independent
of file size and type because it occurs PRIOR to me selecting a specific file
from the menu system (in fact, I cannot even select a file because this window
does not appear). After the problem began, I tried updating to S-Plus
7.0.6, which occurred successfully, but this did not solve the
problem.
I have just noticed similar
problems with the following menus:
-"File >
Load Library"
-"File > Export
Data"
-"File > Load
Module"
I cannot recall ever having
made changes to the S-Plus settings.
I hope these clarifications
help!
