Thread-topic: HELP!

Several years ago, I did a study on what statistical COTS program would be best for us. After a long search, I recommended S-PLUS. Now, after several years of use and climbing a steep learning curve, the government agency that oversees our contract wants me to justify why I need S-PLUS – what it provides that no other software package like it provides. The fact that I’ve been using it for years, that it has a supportive newsgroup, that many others in my field use it and we can consult each other – none of those things matter. If I can’t state what S-PLUS has that no other package has, they want me to write a set of requirements so they can go out and compete it. That is difficult because our tasks change from year to year. I never know what capabilities I will need, and S-PLUS seems to have them all. Can someone help me? Maybe someone in Marketing at Insightful? I need this information very soon. Thanks.
