Problem attaching database

Hi,

I am using S+6.2 on Windows NT and have a problem that has stumped me. I have a series of databases attached during my S+ sessions. I need to detach and reattach a certain database and in the last few days when I detach the database by the command

Detach(3)

and then reattach the database using

Attach("c:/database1", where=3)

The search() command shows me that the database is called "c:/database1/.Data/__Meta" and objects(3) shows me that it is empty. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction? If someone could explain the role of the __Meta sub directory that might help me.
