It should work as mark hello - it searches by name and the braces are
not needed. Or mark "hello" if you have conflicts. Type the command >
help names within inspect to find out more.
I don't usually use the breakpoints. In my experience a lot of problems
with S+ functions are due to data issues, like conversions, factor vs
character data, invalid extraction and subset operations, or data that
is just not what you think it is because of previous faulty operations.
Basically, the function you are calling is often OK but the data going
into it is either wrong, or has things in it which crash the function. I
often debug by printing or dumping the data at various points and
checking to see if it is what I expect.
I suppose it is an occupational hazard since I work with real time
series of monitored energy and temperature data. You just never get
completely clean data sets.
