The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is recruiting for a tenure-track academic position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Department of Biostatistics with a joint appointment at the Department of Social and Behavioral Health. The appointee's responsibilities will include collaborative research, independent research, teaching biostatistics, and service to departmental, school and university committees. 
 
Qualifications:  Applicants must (1) possess a doctoral degree in Biostatistics/Statistics or a related field, (2) have a strong research background, (3) be familiar with all stages of survey methodology and related statistical methods, e.g., multilevel modeling (mixed or hierarchical linear modeling), models for longitudinal designs, missing data methods, latent variable modeling, sampling weights, propensity scores, statistical methods for experimental, quasi-experimental and non-experimental research designs, including observational studies, and (4) have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially with students and faculty with various levels of exposure to statistical methods. Experience with and interest in the design, analysis and reporting of social and behavioral science research focused on health care and public health research are essential. Candidates with an interest in cancer prevention and control research are particularly encouraged to apply.  Experience with teaching biostatistics to non-specialist audiences is highly desirable. It is expected that applicants have a proficiency in using statistical software packages and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
