Question about PDE solvers for medium/large scale problems in Splus

I am looking for a PDE solver that I can use for large scale problems like fluid mechanics problems in Splus or R. I am more or less interested in relative size problems which does not necessarily have the multiphysics capability but if there is,  it is a plus. Is there any package that you know of that can help me with this effort?  As long as the package can do the job, it will be ok to buy the license for a reasonable sum.
