Greetings
The acquisition of Insightful by TIBCO was completed on
Sept. 3rd. As someone who has been at Insightful
for over 12 years, I am very excited by the changes I have seen since the
acquisition. There has been new investment in the S+ product line (which you all
will be hearing more about soon and in the future), and a new energy and focus
brought to our product directions, all backed by and supported through the
resources of a much larger organization.
Here are two particularly relevant questions from that
FAQ:
Why did TIBCO purchase Insightful? ...the
acquisition of Insightful strengthens TIBCO’s Predictive Business strategy
and positions the expanded company as offering the industry’s most complete
Business Optimization offering. Bringing these capabilities together with
TIBCO’s enterprise analytics and real-time event processing will enable
powerful, statistically informed applications to be embedded directly into the
business process. The resulting operational applications will be more relevant
and will deliver even more power to our customers, solving complex problems such
as portfolio optimization, risk management and aggregation, fraud detection,
customer churn analysis, clinical trial analysis, failure detection, location
optimization, price optimization, and more.
How will this acquisition impact the ongoing
development of Insightful products? TIBCO will continue developing and
selling Insightful products with the team becoming part of the Spotfire team. It
is our intention to have the Seattle office be the primary development site for
the Insightful product suite, and maintain its own management team. The
customer?facing functions such as sales, pre-sales, professional services and
support, will roll up through the respective Spotfire function. The TIBCO
Spotfire Enterprise Analytics platform will first integrate Insightful’s
technologies. Over the longer term, TIBCO will investigate applying Insightful
statistical capabilities to many to other TIBCO products.

colleague just told me that Insightful has been bought out by TIBCO. Was
this announced on S-News? I didn't seem to get the memo. Can someone
bring me up to date on this change?
