I recall there is a way in Harrel's hmisc library to do some x y plots with error bars, you'd have to dig around in the documentation to find it.  I wrote one myself, but its nowhere near ready to send out.

Subject: [S] (or R) High level R graphics functions?

Good afternoon, folks.

It seems that TIBCO is trying to reduce access to their help line, now that they have taken over Insightful and control of S-PLUS.  Access to the help desk was one of the two main reasons that I had continued to use S-PLUS rather than switching over to R.  The other main reason was that I found the S graphics functions especially the Editable Graphics easier to use than the lower level R graphics functions.  Now I am reassessing whether to make the switch.

To this end, are there available any packages of higher level graphics functions such for example as plotting x vs. y with error bars available for use within the R environment?  In general, one would want functions to do most of the specific types of plot now supported within S-PLUS.  I have downloaded R itself and some of the available packages, but I havent located any packages specifically devoted to high level graphics.

As always, thanks in advance to anyone that can help me with the above.
