YAN YAN Dr. Yan Yan is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Urologic Surgery with a joint appointment in the Division of Biostatistics at Washington University School of Medicine. He earned an M.D. degree from Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China, in 1983 and an M.S. in Epidemiology from Peking Union Medical University, Beijing, China, in 1986. He practiced medicine and conducted epidemiological studies at the National Institute of Family Planning in Beijing until 1991. Dr. Yan received an M.A. (Applied Demography) in 1993 from Georgetown University, Washington DC, and an M.H.S. in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, Baltimore, in 1995. Subsequently, in 1998, he received a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Dr. Yan has done statistical modeling and statistical data analysis in the Department of Population and Family Health at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health from 1995 to 1996 and statistical analysis in the Department of Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, he joined Washington University School of Medicine as a Research Assistant Professor in Urologic Surgery where he provides biostatistical/epidemiological support to all the faculty members in the division and has initiated independent research on urologic malignancies. In 2001, Dr. Yan received a joint appointment in the Division of Biostatistics. As a member of the PLCO Statistical Modeling Group, Dr. Yan has the responsibility of estimating operation characteristics of screening modalities. His current research interests include the clinical/epidemiological studies of urological malignancies and estimation of operating characteristics of screening modalities. |
