J. Philip Miller Research Lab

Professor J. Philip Miller is a Professor of Biostatistics, with particular expertise in the areas of clinical trials and information systems. He is the principal or co-investigator of the coordinating centers for numerous cinical trials and also serves as Director of the Biostatistics Cores for the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center and Washington University Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.

The J. Philip Miller Research Lab was established within the Division of Biostatistics at Washington University School of Medicine in the year 2003 and is made up of Biostatistics faculty members, statistical data assistants, project managers, network analysts, a research patient coordinator, and a research assistant. Some individuals work exclusively on one project, while others divide their time between multiple projects.

The purpose of the Miller Research Lab is to bring together the 18 individuals within the Division of Biostatistics who work on Professor Miller's many studies and to foster a sense of community and shared experiences among these individuals. To this end, Miller Research Lab meetings are held monthly and serve as a forum in which to exchange ideas and review issues. In addition, a specific project is presented at each monthly meeting to familiarize lab members with what is involved in the studies to which other lab members devote their efforts.

In addition to his expertise in biostatistics, clinical trials and information systems, Professor Miller has a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding team leader. The individuals working within the Miller Research Lab feel privileged to count themselves as members of the collegial and collaborative team he has assembled.
