Research Interests: My primary research specialty is in the genetic epidemiology of family data of CVD and risk factors. Current research emphasis is on how obesity modulates these genetic effects.
Current Grants: R01 HL69870 -- HypGENE (Genetics of Fitness, Obesity & Risk of Hypertension) is a case-control exercise intervention study investigating the hypothesis that effects of DNA sequence variations in candidate genes on risk of hypertension depends on obesity levels and cardiorespiratory fitness. (T. Rice, subcontract PI) R01 HL087263 -- GenSalt Sodium Sensitivity is the longitudinal component of an on-going dietary intervention family study of families in rural China investigating the genetic hypotheses underlying dietary sodium sensitivity on hypertension and other CVD risk factors. (T. Rice, subcontract PI)
